KHYF back to business

November 6, 2012

I received this from a KHYF member. No one has been able to verify that Kausthub and his sponsors are not involved in the activities of KHYF either in public or from behind the scenes. Here is the content from the announcement.. Many of the individual programs seem to directly compete with KYM. The last one is a small announcement of their new teacher training program.

KHYF Update | Upcoming Programs | November 2012 Onwards

Yoga Therapy is a holistic and integrative approach to provide a complementary process of Health Care on a one to one basis. Since yoga is a holistic discipline — teaching that the mind, body, and spirit are connected — Yoga Therapy can often go beyond the results that are possible with physical therapy. The KHYF offers a unique individualised approach to Yoga Therapy based on the sound principles of the legendary Yoga Master T Krishnamacharya, who is widely believed to be the architect of modern day Yoga, and especially Yoga Therapy.

A wide range of tools which include Asana, Pranayama, Mantra, Meditation, Nyasa, Mudra and other means prescribed by Yoga will be utilised to design unique practices for every Yoga Therapy Student. The practice will be developed considering the nature of the problem, the capacity of the individual and other vital parameters such as age, occupation, responsibilities in life, energy level etc. All classes will be taught by experienced faculty under the guidance of senior consultants Mrs. Menaka Desikachar and Mrs. Radha Sundararajan.

Many students from around the world have used Yoga Therapy for managing high blood pressure, coping with the effects of cancer treatments, diabetes, asthma, allergy, gastric disorders, depression or anxiety and many other illnesses. Lately it’s become especially popular for musculoskeletal issues like lower and upper back pain, sciatica, and shoulder, neck and hip pain.

If you or anyone you know are interested in beginning your journey to wellness by setting up a Yoga Therapy session with us, kindly contact us through phone  or via email

We are open Monday – Friday between 9:00 am to 6:30pm.

There are millions of people, both adults and children, who have been diagnosed with some type of diabetes, which has emerged as a major healthcare problem in India. The unfortunate part is that many patients with diabetes have a host of related problems, like, high blood pressure, foot complications, vision impairment etc.

Good diabetes control also implies the diagnosis of the presence of the long term complications in their early, initial stages. Changing your eating habits and beginning an exercise program immediately are essential. Diabetes does not have to cause major changes in your life, so it is important not to let it take over. Alternative treatments like Yoga, Meditation and Chanting can also prove to be effective ways of managing Diabetes, apart from general medical treatment. Worldwide the research on the impact of Yoga on Diabetes is growing and the signs are promising.

Drawing on its vast experience in the field of Yoga Therapy, The KHYF is now proposing a special therapeutic program for patients suffering from diabetes. Participants will be offered a daily (Mon-Fri) two hour group session that will last a duration of two weeks. These sessions will not only include Yogasanas and Pranayama that are said to be beneficial to manage the illness, but also meditative practices which can bring the mind to a sense of harmony and relaxation. A fit body and relaxed mind are said to be key ingredients in managing the illness.

Cost of Program Rs. 2500 per participant for the two week program that totals twenty hours of classes. Program commences in December 2012. Different time slots may be available based on demand. Group size will be limited, so register early.

To register yourself, your family member or a friend who has been diagnosed with diabetes, kindly contact us through phone  or via email

We are open Monday – Friday between 9:00 am to 6:30pm.

Ageing gracefully is a gift and can be facilitated through many spiritual practices that this great country has to offer. However, the process of ageing brings about its own set of challenges, while at the same time, providing a great opportunity for self reflection & introspection and a path to embrace the divine. The choice of whether to let the challenges dominate this stage of life, or to let the gift of space and silence expand, lies entirely up to the individual.

Making a conscious choice to enlighten and enliven life, even at this stage, is possible through Yoga. Deep meditative practices when combined with meaningful mantras help bring the mind to a state of calm and peace. Carefully guided postures along with breathing practices can lay a good foundation for bringing optimum health for the body and to balance the energy levels.

The KHYF is offering a special program keeping in mind the needs of senior citizens. Yoga sessions will be conducted thrice a week (Mon-Wed-Fri) for a duration of four weeks.

Program commences in December 2012. Different time slots may be available based on demand. Cost of Program Rs. 900 per participant for the four week course.

Being fit is essential as it helps us remain productive at our best. As a consequence, our responsibilities will no longer seem to be a chore and life in general, would be more enjoyable. As our society becomes increasingly sedentary, the need to be fit is stronger, and the onus is on each individual. It is not just the amount of physical activity that we can do, but also includes our mental, emotional and energetic capacities. This is why medical and scientific circles are currently advocating an integrative approach to health and fitness, and are combining different disciplines to bring their best practices together to serve the individual.

Yoga, the gift of India to the world, had already foreseen this concept thousands of years ago, and propagated a fully integrated approach to health and wellbeing. Asana, Pranayama, Meditation and other similar tools of yoga can influence different layers of our system and a synergy of these can help bring about amazing results in both, body and mind.

The KHYF is offering group yoga classes that will combine the most popular tools of Yoga to bring forth holistic wellbeing. Classes will be offered daily (Mon-Fri) for a duration of four weeks. If your focus is on improving fitness, or, if you are not motivated enough to do yoga at home, take the first step towards better health.

Program commences in December 2012. Different time slots may be available based on demand. Cost of Program Rs. 1500 per participant for the four week course.

Now that Kausthub’s Image is tarnished in the western world and he cant go there again , KHYF is now making themselves “available” for the “Indian Audience ” as Kausthub’s Scandal is not yet known to many Indians as it is not published in any Indian TV /Print Media . Previously the Indian Audience was not given importance as Kausthub /KHYF was interested in Dollars and Euros but now that Police will be waiting for him if he goes to those countries , he is contended now with earning in Indian Rupees .Wonderful Strategy .

Since when did Krishnamacharya offer group classes for fitness? I thought the whole premise of this tradition was one to one. Considering they are attempting to preserve the teachings this sounds very far fetched. Yoga for seniors that are going to be held three times a week – I hope their students are very lively because this intensity could kill them off.

Your posting does not say where these are being held. Are they in their home? That would be even more interesting – under the same roof of Kausthub?

Trust me, we in India know!

  4. In the history of this tradition, whenever a teacher from KYM chose to branch out on their own, they were openly condemned, criticised and ostracized by the “family” for being “unfaithful” to the teacher, simply fearing competition in Chennai. Now see what happens!
